BELIEVE IN YOU! That was the message heard by freshmen in the Class of 2018 at Clearwater High School this week. Representatives from Herff Jones presented words of motivation and encouragement for students to give their best effort in order to have a future of good choices. Freshmen signed cards of commitment to themselves to be opened their graduating year and a banner to be displayed in the school.
These FCCLA students represented CHS today at Cape Girardeau in STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) competition. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning. FCCLA members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.
Five students represented Clearwater High School at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville for the Bi-State Band Festival over the past weekend. Three bands comprised of students nominated from Missouri and Illinois participated in the two-day event.

Come on out for Saturday night fun at the high school gymnasium as the Donkey Ball Game kicks off at 6:30. Tickets are $6.00 in advance or $8.00 at the door. Proceeds support Project Graduation.
For many folks, New Year’s resolutions involve food and dieting. At the Career Fair in December, FCCLA students McClay Lewis and Libby Chitwood educated middle school students about the long term effects of unhealthy eating and how we can change those habits.
Homecoming games begin tonight at 5:00 pm with the Junior Varsity Boys facing off against the Ellington Whippets. The Lady Tigers and Varsity Boys games will follow with the queen coronation topping off the night. These thirteen lovely ladies will represent their clubs and classes as they vy for the homecoming title. Go Tigers!
