Students at Clearwater High School and Middle School are enjoying the physical and mental benefits of running with the addition of cross country as a new sport during the 2018-19 school year. CHS math instructor Jim West is coaching the team, with the first meet scheduled for Saturday, September 8 at Arcadia Valley.

Clearwater High School juniors and seniors are invited to register with Mr. Briley to participate in the 15th Annual Bridge Building Competition!

It’s that time of year again. MoDOT is sponsoring its 15th Annual Bridge Building Competition. Deadline for registration is September 4th. This competition is open to any high school junior or senior within MoDOT’s Southeast District. All bridge kits are provided at no charge and will be delivered by the MoDOT Team on October 1 and 2.  The MoDOT Team will pick up bridges on October 29 and 30.  Competition date is November 15 in Cape Girardeau. Please be advised to ONLY use the materials supplied by MoDOT.

CHS will have a normal class schedule on Thursday, August 30 with release for club meetings at the times below.

Auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”  will be held after school in Ms. Montgomery’s room on September 4-5.  Show dates and times are November 1 and 2 at 6:00 pm, November 3 at 2:00 pm. 

Join the Book Club! We are taking new memberships NOW! The first meeting will be Thursday, August 30 in the high school library. Membership is $5.00 and includes a FREE BOOK! Book club members get first chance at new library books, enjoy snacks and discussing the latest and greatest reads. We also try to attend one movie per year that is based on a book. Last year, the book club read the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio and saw the movie at the theater in Poplar Bluff. Pick up a membership form at the CHS Library and turn it in with your dues to Mrs. Bangert or Mrs. Pauley.

The Tigers will travel to Van Buren on Tuesday, August 28 for the baseball season opener against the Van Buren Bulldogs. The bus will leave at 2:45 pm. Game time is 4:30 pm.

Please help “Stuff a Truck” for the Clearwater Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry by sending non-perishable items to Clearwater High School. Examples of items needed are canned vegetables, fruit, soup, pasta, rice, hamburger helper, peanut butter, condiments, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels and other paper products, etc. Bring your donations by September 8, 2018 and place them in the plastic container near the Clearwater High School office.
