FCCLA Promotes Safe Driving

FCCLA partnered with Teens in the Drivers Seat to encourage safe driving. The program seeks to save lives and reduce injuries among America’s youth by developing and delivering the nation’s best transportation safety programs and projects. According to their website, teens are most in danger driving because of distractions, nighttime/drowsy driving, speeding/racing, low safety belt usage, and impaired driving.

Softball Team Collecting Soda Bottles

The District Softball Tournament begins Saturday, and if in the championship game on Tuesday, the team wants to make noisemakers. They need empty, rinsed 16-20 oz bottles in the next few days. Please give to a softball player or Coach England.

Also, remember that if they play in the championship game, the school will be taking a pep bus that will leave at 2:50 on Tuesday. You will need a signed permission slip to ride the bus, and more information will be shared on Monday.

Juniors and Seniors Attend Reality Fair

CHS Juniors and Seniors attended a Reality Fair this morning in the West Multipurpose Room. A Reality Fair is an interactive financial education experience for students. The Reality Fair concept is a unique opportunity for students to experience some of the financial challenges they will face when they start life on their own. It’s a hands-on experience in which students identify their career choice and starting salaries then complete a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, and food. Additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel are factored in as well. It was sponsored by Ozark Federal Credit Union and presented by Davine Conover with volunteers through the Piedmont Area Chamber of Commerce.

Thanks for a Great Prom (and what about those tickets??)

We feel like Prom at Eagle Sky was a great event and hope you had a wonderful time. Eagle Sky will be sharing their pictures with us, and those will be posted as they are made available.

I wanted to address the ticket issue so that you don’t let it ruin your evening. I told you that you didn’t need to take your ticket because your names were on either the parking permit list or the bus list. What I’m guessing happened is that one of the first to arrive handed their tickets to the gate attendants, and from then on, tickets were expected. That was a misunderstanding. If you gave up your ticket and wanted it for a keepsake, I have extras in the library. Remember that this is the first year we’ve held prom off campus and the first time Eagle Sky has hosted a prom.

If you didn’t pick up a key chain prom favor and you want one, stop by the library on Monday!
