MAC Rep Visits with Juniors and Seniors

A representative from Mineral Area College visited with some CHS juniors and seniors this morning to discuss what MAC offers for incoming students. The 30 minute or so presentation highlighted the degree options at MAC and gave students time to ask questions about their particular interests. This activity is one of many planned as part of the new RootED program led by counselor Mrs. Miriani.

Biology and Chemistry Labs

Mrs. Martin’s Biology and Chemistry classes had labs yesterday.

Biology Lab: Using a scaled image of a variety of organisms, students measured and analyzed the digestive tract to identify the organism’s feeding niche.

Chemistry Lab:  Students just finished Unit 2: Dimensional Analysis. In this lab, students practiced reading off of a ruler, graduated cylinder, and scale. Students assigned the correct units for each measurement as well as manipulating these numbers in calculations (using proper sig fig rules of course!) in order to determine the thickness of a piece of aluminum foil.

See You At the Pole

See You At the Pole took place at 7:15 on September 28. FCA member Abby Cheney, who led the event, said that it was good to see different kids come out and pray for the school year.

See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Decades later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
